When we are talking about compact phones there are very limited choices out there in the market followingly a very limited number of customers who really want a compact flagship phone which is powerful as well as fits well in there pockets. Yes Apple has their mini series with them but what about the android users. They should also have a bite right. So here is a smartphone called ASUS ZENPHONE 9 which is very compact to hold and very powerful to feel. Lets get started.

1. OVERVIEW
The box has the phone itself, a hard polycarbonate case, a 30 watt charger, a USB typeC - typeC cable, documentations. That's all.
2. LOOKS/BUILD QUALITY
The back side of the phone come with a sort of soft leather finish which has textures on it though it is plastic built, so it is recommended to always use the case otherwise the back side will get dirty soon. It is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus front and back. It has got a thick boxy metal frame. Talking about ports and buttons it has a 3.5mm headphone jack and a noise-cancelling microphone on the the top, speakers, USB type-C charging port, a SIM tray(dual nano SIM card slot) at the bottom.
It weighs around 169 grams and 172.5 grams with the back cover. So in all great in hand feel and quite premium to look at. Even with small palms one can use this super compact flagship phone easily with one hand.
3. SPECIFICATION
This phone packs the latest and greatest Snapdragon 8+ GEN 1 which is a 4nm based processor so industry leading efficiency and performance. Talking about storage it comes in 3 options, 8/128GB VARIANT, 8/256GB variant, and top of the line 16/256gb VARIANT. It has UFS 3.1 storage and LPDDR5 RAM.
4. DISPLAY/PERFORMANCE
This smartphone comes with 5.9 inch FHD+ Super Amoled compact display having a refresh rate of 120Hz and up to 1100 nits peak brightness.
It supports
HDR10+ and IP68 rating, making it completely dust and water resistant. So overall great display.
With the Snapdragon 8+GEN1 the performance is top of the line, giving an antutu score of 11 lakhs I mean all games out there can be played at the highest settings smoothly. For example both COD mobile and PUBG can be played at 90 FPS However since it's a compact smartphone heating issues have been
detected. Gaming for long periods and other heavy workload gets the phone heated.
Even if there is a vapour cooling chamber, still the phone surely gets warm.
A major improvement has been done by ASUS in this section. A dual camera setup is provided. The primary lens is a 50MP(f/1.9) IMX766 Sony sensor and a 12MP IMX363 Ultrawide and Macro combined sensor. At the front we get a 12MP(F/2.45) IMX663 selfie sensor. The highlighting feature is that this there is a 6-axis Gimbal stabilization is provided in the camera. The primary lens in wider than other phones but the ultra wide angle lens is not that wider. HDR photos could have been improved. The post processing is good especially in terms of Night photography where the sensors tends to capture a lot of light.
In terms of videography it is also good. With the rear primary lens you can shoot 8k footage at 24 FPS and with the selfie sensor you can shoot 4k video at 30 FPS. An additional feature called Light-tails has been added this time which is mainly used for clicking car images. Also you can shoot slow motion 4k
video at 120 FPS.
Though the phone is compact in but the battery back-up in it is quite impressive. It has 4300mAH and with a power efficient processor like SD 8+GEN1 this phone will give you a screen time of a full day even with moderately heavy usage.
6. UI/FEATURES
The OS of ASUS is great. It gives you a very clean experience with no bloatwares, nearly a stock Android experience. This phone comes with ZEN UI based on Android 12. The security patch update of June comes out of the box. However ASUS OS is not that much reliable but during the global launch of ASUS Zenfone 9 a 2 years software update and 2 years security update has been promised.
The key feature of the phone is it's power button which is actually multi-functional. It is known as the ASUS Smart Key. You can assign different types of functions to it like you slide down your finger over the power button, you can get access to the notification panel. So ASUS just increased the ease of access.
In terms of connectivity it is also top of the line. This phone comes with all the famous 5G bands along with Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi calling, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC and 2x2 MIMO. Though it does not have the notification light.

PRICE- $800( around Rs. 65,000 in India) however launch in India is not yet confirmed

9. CONCLUSION
As I just told at the very starting, since it is a very compact phone the target market audience for this device is also very compact. However no compromise has been done on this device. All top of the line features is present here. Only a few things are missing like the notification light and wireless charging So those wants this phone can surely go for it because there are not much options left in the market.. However the launch of this device in India has not been confirmed yet. Although foreign price is about $800 which if convert to INR appears to be around Rs. 65,000. At this price range this will compete with the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Apple I-phone 13 Mini. So that's it for now.
