1. OVERVIEW

The box contains the smartphone itself, a decent quality transparent TPU case, a 22.5 watt charging brick, typeA - typeC cable, SIM card tool, documentations. That's all.

2. DESIGN/BUILD QUALITY

The phone comes in a traditional boxy design with rounded edges. The back side is made of polycarbonate with textures on it. So not much fingerprint magnet. The camera bump is very minimal. Th frame is 8.9mm thick and weighs around 200 grams, so this is slightly on the heavier side. The phone is IP52 rated so minimal water droplets won't be an issue. Overall decent in hand feel.

3. PORTS AND BUTTONS
At the bottom you get typeC charging port, MIC. hole, single bottom speakers. At the top there is IR blaster and a 3.5m jack. At the left there is the SIM tray with a dedicated micro-SD card slot. At the right you get Volume up/down and power button which also works as a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. However secondary mic. hole is absent.

4. DISPLAY
This device gets a 6.58-inch FHD+ IPS display with 90Hz refresh rate and 240Hz Touch Sampling Rate. This display has an aspect ratio of 20:7:9 aspect ratio and 2400 x 1080 pixels. The bezels are of decent size on all the 4 sides very similar to all the lower budget smartphones.
The display has a peak brightness of 400nits, and it's a Dot display as claimed by Redmi. The viewing angles are decent. So overall a normal display quite similar to other Redmi budget phones. However, since it's an IPS display, 120Hz refresh rate could have been offered.

5. SPECIFICATION
This smartphone comes with the MediaTek Dimensity 700 5G chipset, which is one of the earlier 5G chipset of MediaTek. This phone is offered in two variants, 4/64GB and 6/128GB options. It gets LPDDR4X RAM type and UFS 2.2 storage type.
But this storage is only available in the 128GB variant. For the 64GB variant it has uMCP storage type. As a reviewer, I am not very satisfied with this decision of Redmi.

6. PERFORMANCE
This phone has the Dimensity 700 5G chipset which is a 7nm based processor. Talking about AnTuTu score, it is about 3,40,000, making its seat above Snapdragon 680 and below Helio G99 processor. But the USP of Dimensity 700 is that its thermals are excellent. Even after long gaming sessions temperatures stays under control. Games like CODM and PUBG NEW STATE can be played in medium to high settings. Though it's not a gaming smartphone but gives good performance in terms of decent gaming. Overall multi-tasking, app opening experience is decent enough for day-to-day life.

7. OS/UI
This phone is equipped with MIUI 13 based on Android 12 out of the box. Information regarding further software and security updates is still unknown. However, bloatware and useless apps are present which can be uninstalled. Considering its a budget phone, this was quite expected.

8. FEATURES
You get Videvine L1 support, FM radio etc.

9. CAMERA
You get a 50MP(f/1.8) Samsung sensor, and a 2MP(f/2.4) Portrait sensor. Ultra-wide-angle lens is absent here. On the front you get an 8MP(f/2.0) selfie sensor in a water drop notch. Though it's not a camera centric phone but the image quality is good enough. The images are contrasty, Dynamic range is good. For Portrait shots, it has got sharp edges. If the light source is good, then image quality improves. Selfie camera is also decent. Night shots are not that great but gets the work done. In terms of Videography this camera can shoot up to 1080p at 30FPS both from the rear camera and selfie camera.

10. BATTERY
This phone gets a big 5000mAH battery backup along with a 22.5-watt fast charger, however the phone itself supports up to 18 watt. It takes around 1.5 hours to get itself fully charged. In a full charge, this device will give you a backup of more than 24 hours. So quite good in terms of battery life.

11. CONNECTIVITY/SENSORS
In terms of connectivity, all necessary 5G bands are present. It has Bluetooth version 5.1, Dual Band Wi-Fi and 4G+ carrier aggregation support. In terms of sensors, it has got all the necessary ones including face unlock and side mounted fingerprint sensor which works well.

12. PRICE/COLOURS AVAILABLE

PRICE- 4/64GB - Rs. 13,999   and 6/128GB - Rs. 15,999

COLOURS AVAILABLE- Chrome Silver, Meadow Green, Thunder Black

13. CONCLUSION
Look I can give a clear statement that if you are customer who really wants a 5G phone and your budget is very tight then you can surely go for this device, otherwise it's best to wait for the 4G variant of this device. Why I am telling this, there are a lot of compromises done here, just to make it 5G like the display is mediocre, ultrawide angle lens is missing, charging time is quite long etc. However, the performance it offers is good. So, if you want a future proof device, I can recommend this you otherwise wait for time because the 4G variant will sure to have more features than this one.
Thankyou.
