REDMI K50 ULTRA (CHINESE VARIANT)

This phone is currently launched in China when I am writing this blog with a price tag of 3000 yuan. This phone will probably be launched in India with the name of POCO F4 GT. The interesting part is its price. I mean if you convert this price to Indian currency, it will be around Rs. 30,000 - 35,000 and if Xiaomi maintains this price in India also this could be the cheapest smartphone in the market having Snapdragon 8+GEN1 processor. So, let's have a detailed outlook of this device.

1. OVERVIEW

The box contains the smartphone right up front, SIM card tool, a decent quality transparent TPU case, 120-watt fast charging brick, USB typeA - typeC charging cable and some documentations. Thats all.

2. DESIGN/BUILD QUALITY

The design of the back side is very minimal and kind of subdued. I mean it really looks like a budget smartphone. It has got the old day's curved plastic frames with a flat display. The back side is made of glass and really looks shiny making it a fingerprint magnet. It weighs around 206.5 grams. Overal giving an old school looks which is a kind of uninspiring.

3. PORTS AND BUTTONS
At the bottom you get a USB typeC charging port, speaker grills, SIM card tray. On the top you get speakers (stereo) too, IR blaster and Noise Cancelling Microphone, and you get Volume and power button on the right side. Th left side is all empty.

4. DISPLAY
This smartphone comes with 6.7 inch 1.5K+ OLED display having 120Hz refresh rate and 480Hz Touch Sampling Rate. It is a 12-bit display which is HDR10+ and Dolby vision supportive. Since it is 12-bit display, the colours stands out from the mob. I mean they are really punchy and pop-out.

5. SPECIFICATION
This phone comes with a latest and greatest Snapdragon 8+GEN1(4nm) flagship processor. It comes in 4 different variants, 8/128GB, 8/256GB, 12/256GB and 12/512GB. This device uses LPDDR5 RAM type and UFS 3.1 storage type. So absolutely flagship level specifications in a budget price.

6. PERFORMANCE
Since it packed with SD 8+GEN1 processor all the famous gaming titles like APEX LEGENDS and CODM can be played at the highest settings with a buttery smooth experience, since you get around 60FPS constantly. Even after prolonged gaming the thermals were under control so a big thumbs up for that. Additionally get an AnTuTu score near to 1.1 million. So absolutely beast in terms of performance.

7. OS/UI
Redmi k50 Ultra comes with MIUI 13 based on Android 12. Since this is Chinese version, nothing much is known.

8. BATTERY

A big 5000mAH battery is given in this phone coupled with 120-watt fast charger. This will give a screen time of 1.5 - 2 days with moderate usage.

9. CAMERA

This phone is equipped with a triple camera sensor. It has a 108MP(f/1.6) supporting OIS, an 8MP Wide-angle lens and a 2MP Macro.

You get a 20MP Sony IMX596 selfie sensor. These sensors take out decent quality photos which are not all that good when compared to other phones of similar price. It clearly reflects that it is a performance centric smartphone.

Talking about features, there is a super-slow motion taking shots up to 960FPS, Log mode for taking professional shots. In terms of videography the primary lens can shoot up to 4k 60FPS video clips and the selfie camera can shoot 1080p up to 60FPS.

10. MULTIMEDIA

The display of this phone is absolutely fantastic. The HDR10+ and vide vine L1 support adds the cherry on cake. The pixel density is good enough to give a punchy colour output. The saturation, depth all is well applied on this device. The sound quality from the dual stereo speakers gives crisp and sound output. So absolutely top-notch in terms of video viewing and content consumption purposes. Oh yes, the HDR10+ is not supportive on Netflix right now but it will be ready after some certifications.

11. CONNECTIVITY/SENSORS
Talking about connectivity, since it is a Chinese variant so the exact number of 5G bands available is still unknown. However, the Indian variant will have all the 5G bands available for sure, so don't worry about that. Apart from that there is Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi Calling, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC. So, well and good about that.
All the sensors are available in this device including IR blaster, face unlock, and In-display fingerprint which works absolutely perfect.

12. PRICE/COLOURS AVAILABLE

PRICE- 3000 - 4200 Yuan (around Rs. 35,000 - 48,000) The top model is known as the Champion edition

COLOURS AVAILABLE- Elegant Black, Silver Traces, Ice Blue, Champion Edition

13. CONCLUSION
See the price at which it came in China if such a price bracket continues in India, they it will be absolutely a value for money deal. In some cases, this phone is surely taking the Ultra position like in terms of display and performance. However, this phone is not at all Ultra like there is no IP rating, Notification light, Wireless charging and FM radio. Additionally, the back design is not at all appealing and the nonsense 2MP camera should really be ignored in flagship smartphones. That's really disappointing. But yes, the way this phone is designed, it follows the true DNA of POCO F4 GT. But yes, they are true value for money deal and a full recommendation from my side for gamers.
Thankyou
